Rachel E. Fisher, CISA, NCCO, CTGA

Christopher J. VallezRachel Fisher joined Nearman, Maynard, Vallez, CPAs & Consultants, P.A. in 1991 and currently holds the position of Partner of the firm. Rachel received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, from Clayton College and State University in Morrow, Georgia. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree, which she received with distinction from Suffolk County Community College in Selden, New York. Rachel is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), the Association of Accounting Marketing (AAM), Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

The Information Technology Department falls under Rachel's direction as a Partner of the firm. Rachel has earned the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation. The CISA designation is issued by ISACA. Her overall responsibilities with the department include ensuring adherence to the firm's standards and to project objectives; analyzing project plans; reviewing work papers and deliverable products, and overseeing our management and technical Associates to ensure that professional, technical, and client service standards are achieved. Rachel oversees and conducts the firm’s technology projects such as disaster recovery planning, information systems general controls reviews, network and Internet-based e-Commerce security testing, and information systems security reviews.

Rachel has successfully completed the training and examination on security controls over electronic fund transfer networks and is a Certified TG-3 Auditor (CTGA). This certification on interchange network security is required by STAR, PULSE, and NYCE for auditor qualification to complete the PIN security compliance (TG-3) review. Rachel has also completed training to conduct the annual ACH compliance audits required by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA). In addition, she completed the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ Regulatory Compliance School and earned the NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO) designation in April 2002. Rachel assists our clients with various compliance and internal audit services.

As a Partner, Rachel helps the firm develop new services to meet client needs and develops marketing programs to inform and present those services to clients. Rachel manages the proposal process, ensuring that proposals meet client requirements and reflect any change in accounting or regulatory requirements. She is responsible for creating all of the firm’s marketing materials, to include the firm's website at www.nearman.com, and is the editor of and contributes to the firm’s newsletter, "The Auditor’s Report." In addition, she has been a speaker at credit union conferences and workshops.

Rachel has been a member of the firm’s Executive Committee since 1996. The Executive Committee plans, shapes, and guides the direction of the firm and the growth and development of the firm’s Associates. Rachel is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Atlanta office.
